Bariatric surgery is an important step toward a healthier, happier you. We're here to help you take that first step with confidence, knowing what to expect because you chose the program and surgeon right for your needs and lifestyle.

Qualifications and characteristics all patients should consider before selecting the right bariatric program for them include:

  • Experience
    - Know the patient volume and years of practice for every physician you consider.
  • Qualifications
    - Look for an accredited center of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), and ensure physician credentials such as board certification and fellowship training.
  • Accessibility
    - Opt for a team that provides the structure, support, availability and encouragement for all its patients.

At Meridian, new patients are able to meet with our experienced surgeons and health care professionals at their first appointment. Here, our experts explain surgical options to help patients decide which procedure is right for them.

Pre-surgery, you will be required to meet with a variety of health care professionals, including a nutritionist, psychologist and others depending on your program. Your insurance may also require multiple pre-operative tests. All of this will be discussed during your first consultation.

While the amount of time between consultation and surgery may span from three to six months, depending on the program, our bariatric teams are available for support every step of the way.
